The Kerry Beagle is one of the oldest hounds. They
can be traced back to the 18th century.
that they descended from the Celtic hound and the
old southern hound.
They are primarily used to track game like
raccoon’s and rabbits. The breed almost went
out but was revitalized by g braque de l’Ariège, a French hound. They
are mostly found in Ireland.
This hound has a broad head and they are medium
in size. They have great speed and endurance. This is
what makes them such good hunters.
Just like any other beagle they love to play chase,
and should be on a leash. One good scent and they
are off and running to catch the game.
They are a beautiful breed, and live by
their nose. Like other hounds, they need
regular exercise. Loving, merry little hounds
is what makes them so special. Happy St
