Kathy Keys had been looking for her seven year old beagle Jackson. He had been missing for two weeks. He had escaped from the house when a burst of wind blew open the door. Though her neighbors tried to persuade her to quit looking, she wouldn’t give up the search for her beloved beagle.
Her prayers had been answered when she found him along a creek. I bet it was the longest two weeks. Its a miracle that Jackson is alive. She found him along the creek, trapped in a muskrat trap. The ASPCA is looking for information on this trap, because it was unmarked. The owner of this trap is facing animal cruelty charges. I hope they find the owner of this trap.
YDR.com Local News Reports:
“I prayed and cried out ‘Come home, Jackson,’ and all of a sudden I started hearing him yelp,” Keys said. “I found him caught in a trap … His leg was a mess and he was covered in mud.”
She stayed with him until help arrived, holding the trap under her arm to keep the chain from dragging Jackson into the creek.”

What are your thoughts should the owner of the muskrat trap be charged with animal cruelty? Its good news that Jackson is alive and amazing that he was smart enough to dig a hole so he wouldn’t drown in the water. I think Jackson was waiting for Kathy to find him. I am glad he is back home, and digging holes again. He is one brave beagle, and very beloved.
Only a dog owner could truly understand why Kathy never gave up looking. Our dogs are family. Its not the same without them in our lives. They ask for very little, they bring us so much joy.
