Dogs aren’t just pets, they are family

Candy beagle to the max

Candy beagle to the max

My beagle Candy isn’t just a pet,
she is part of my family. She has a big job to do,
like comforting my son during a loud thunder storm.
When he gets scared, she sits on his lap, licks him
and stays right by his side.

She comforts us in bad days. We look forward to playing with her,
and going for walks. Early in the morning
she is the first one to wake us all up and greet us,
with her tail wagging. Her job is to wake us up,
alert us to strangers, and so much more. Naturally she
loves to help out with many things. She loves giving us a
nice beagle song , for grocery day. Her favorite past time
is chasing butterflies with my son, and playing ball.

Since Candy is a huge part of our family, I pay close attention
dog ad campaigns. I enjoy watching these ads geared towards
dogs and their owners.

Check out this fun teaser ad :On the Lot  Grant Webber really understands a dog’s needs.

Really cute!

This one is my favorite,Check out this oneGrant Webber goes for a test drive

The ads are really fun, and I  enjoy watching this one especially. It looks like they had
some fun putting these together.

Subaru is really reaching out, to dog people. Why not, there’s the Target Dog,
and Bushes Baked Beans with the dog, who gives away the secret!

For fun we went to the
Subaru Facebook Page, and got Candy a dog drivers license.

Studies indicate that children’s health is boosted by having pets

Recent studies show that
children who grow up with
pets have fewer health problems.
A child at infancy raised around
a dog will have a more mature
immune system.

I know that dogs in general are
great companions. Having them come
around in hospitals as therapy dogs,
helps the patients with moral and
the healing process.

They are using dogs in courthouses,
to help ease a tension and anxiety
when a witness testifies before the
court. Seeing a familiar dog with
a warm and friendly temperament puts
a witness at ease before they have
to testify. Its very helpful for kids.

These studies are showing the health benefits for children.
Having a dog may stave off disease for toddlers. They maybe
less likely to get ear infections.

http://www.annarbor.com Reports :

In fact, kids in this demographic were 30 percent less likely to experience coughs, ear infections and symptoms such as stuffiness, runny nose, sneezing and congestion.
Those born in homes with canines were 44 percent less likely to develop ear infections, something that is so common in children.

Details

I think having pets does help children learn empathy. The daily care for a pet, does teach kids
nurturing skills. As a kid I loved having a dog. My parents had me take our puppy to puppy training
class and dog obedience training when our dog got older.

In between school, I learned to make time, to walk our dog, training,
grooming, and nutrition. My dog had epilepsy, so I learned about seizures
and what to do when my dog had one.

Its important that you get the right pet for your family. I do believe
that having a dog and pets in general does make children happier. They always
have someone to talk to. When they come home from school there is always a
friendly dog to greet them.

Even if your having a bad day. Your beagle is always glad
to see you. I think that’s really important for a kids. You can
tell your beagle all about your day, as you scratch behind their
ears.

Fourth of July Safety Tips for Pets

The Fourth of July is a fun
holiday. The pool parties,
backyard fun, and the
fireworks display.

Its not a fun time for our
dogs. The loud noises, bright
lights can and will spook your
pets.

If you can its best to keep them There
are those delicious B-B-Q’s. Chicken bones
and other foods can harm your beagle. Keep
them on their regular diet.

Keep your beagle at home during the public
fireworks show. Keep some of the dogs toys,
bed and turn on the radio or leave the tv on
at a normal volume. This will muffle the sound
of the fireworks. Also do this if your beagle is
an outside dog.

Take your Beagle for a walk early that morning.
It well help burn off some energy and lower the
stress.

Fourth of July pet safety tips :

• Keep alcoholic drinks, lighters and lighter fluid and fireworks out of reach. All have ingredients that are toxic to animals.

• Keep your pets on their normal diet—even if they’re begging for a burger from the grill.

• Keep citronella candles, citronella spray and other bug-repellents away from animals, unless the label specifically says the bug repellent is safe for animals.

Tips from Pet Advisor.com on How to Calm Pet Anxiety From Fireworks:

Seal the Hatch: Close all windows and doors. Doggie doors or cat flaps should be disabled as well. As for rabbits, bring them inside if possible. At the very least, cover your outdoor rabbit hutch with a blanket; also add a few blankets or extra bedding inside for comfort.

Curtain Call: Draw the curtains inside to help dull the noise.

White Noise: Run an air conditioner or fan, or put on some soothing background music — classical is great.

Beagle Shedding? Tips on what you can do

We miss you buddy

Hunter Warrior

Every dog sheds. Short haired dogs like
beagles shed more than people think. During
the summer beagles tend to shed more.

One of the first things you can do to help
with shedding, is brush your dog everyday. You
can use a fine tooth comb or brush. Our beagles
coats looked the best when we used a hand brush
glove
. The glove fits easily over your hand, and gives you easy access to all
areas of your beagles body.

1. Brush your pet! Regular brushing can cut down on excess shedding.

2. Feed your dog a quality diet.

3. Vacuum often.

4. Use couch covers. Surefit covers have worked well for family, because I could wash them regularly. Or use a scotch brand upholstery tape roller. You can find these at Walmart or Target in the pet section. They work great!
You can use them on your dog’s bedding or the upholstery in the car.

5. Bath your dog, occasionally through the summer months. You don’t want to over do it, or their
coat can dry out. Check with your vet or groomer for their best recommendations on a good shampoo.

There are other things that maybe causing this.
It could be an allergic reaction to a flea bite
or their food.

If it continues, its always best to see a vet. Our beagle
Hunter had an allergic reaction to a flea bite. We were able
to help take care of the flea problem. He continued to shed,
so we took him to the vet.

The ASPCA Recommends seeing a Vet,
when you see the following:

• Skin irritation, including redness, bumps, rashes or scabs

• Open sores of any kind

• Bald spots or thinning of coat

• Dull, dry hair that pulls out easily
Scratching

• Constant foot licking or face rubbing

Agility Training and your Beagle

An Australian Shepherd doing agility at the Ro...

This is a fast paced sport
where dogs jump over and
climb over obstacles, weave
through poles and run through
tunnels. Beagles are smart and
have the energy to learn. Its a
lot of fun and a great way to bond.

Training needs to start early in
your pups life. Make sure they have
a grasp on basic obedience commands first.
Make sure to socialize them at parks and
places where other dogs are.

If you want to compete successfully
it will take serious teamwork, and
commitment. Make sure your dog is in
good shape. Be patient they will make
mistakes, so stay positive.

Find a good instructor and enjoy
bonding and learning with your beagle. Use
lots of praise, positive reinforcement and
you’ll be very successful.

In addition here are some Tips to keep in mind
during agility training class.

Beagles Unlimited Suggests :

1.While you are waiting your turn, play with your dog. Have your dog follow a treat or toy between your legs, as if performing the weave poles. Not only will this reinforce the weave poles when you work on them, but it’s also something fun and motivating for your dog to do.

2.If your dog is afraid of an obstacle, try your hardest to not stress about it or get upset. This is easier said than done, but if you make light of it, your dog will be more at ease and more willing to do something that they are fearful of. Realize that this is NOT rocket science and that the world will NOT come crashing to an end if your dog won’t perform a specific obstacle.

More Details Here

Keep in mind that you need to gradually add
training equipment and keep it fun. Reward them
for the activity.

Set commands for each piece of equipment. If your trying to do
more than one obstacle keep them focused on
their current activity until they move on.

Beagle brings Home Human Skull after a Walk

Beagle in profile

Beagle in profile (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

A beagle came home from a walk with a human skull,
which has opened up a criminal investigation
in Gallup, New Mexico.

The dog found the remains saturday
night and brought them home. The
owner who lives on the west end
of Gallup’s airport, alerted the
authorities.

Beagle’s are known for their keen
sense of smell, and this dog,
found one heck of a bone.

MSNBC Reports

Police decided to search a field around where the beagle lives since they figured the canine couldn’t have walked too far with the skull due to the dog’s size. Their search turned up other human bones that “we believe are related to this skull,” John Allen, deputy police chief said.

Details

The police believe the bones are from a male between the age of 35 to 45 years.
They believe he may have died three years ago. The rest of the details are still
under investigation.

I wonder if this beagle is named Sherlock.
Hopefully the police will be able to find
out more, and solve the case.

Nice work beagle.

Camping and Hiking with your Beagle Safety Tips

English: Dinas camping Tent near stream at Din...

Find out what the rules are at the
campground for your beagle. Take a
first aid kit with you always.

Make yourself familiar with the wildlife
in the area where you are camping and going
to hike.

In addition keep your dog on a leash. These
are new surroundings, and your beagle could get
lost. Make sure to bring a recent photo of your
dog in case he gets lost.

Pack extra medications, food and water
in case you have car trouble. Never leave
your beagle tied up at the campsite alone.

My friends had their beagles stolen doing this. Not to mention
other things can happen, like altercations with other dogs. So take
your beagle with you. Always take your cell phone with
you in case you need to call for help.

If your beagle is use to carrying a backpack, get one
and pack some water bottles, and collapsible water bowls
for you and your beagle. Its a good idea to wear reflective
clothing, and reflective gear for your beagle.

In addition GOPetFriendly suggests these
safety tips for hiking :

  • Avoid surprising animals by making noise and staying aware – especially on sections of trail with limited sight lines.
  • Don’t wear headphones. Instead, tune into your surroundings so you can hear approaching animals.
  • Don’t jog on the trails known for animal encounters – it stimulates a predator’s instinct to chase and attack.
  • Be sure someone knows where you’re going and when you plan to be back.

Guest Blog Artists of Animal Century: Beagle The Lord Kingdom of Fancy Dogs

Beagle the Lord. Kingdom of Fancy Dogs by Maria Pishvanova

Beagle The Lord Painting Animal Century.com

Beagle The Lord
Painting by Animal Century.com

Beagle in beautiful clothes you see on the
portrait,is more than just a character from a painting.
He is a noble dog from the magical kingdom of fancy animals!

There, dogs of all breeds celebrate their
individuality, being fashionable and artistic.
For this guest blog, we asked beagle to write about this kingdom
and tell the story of how Happy Art was born.

Maria, Julia and Anna
Artists of Animal Century

Hello, dear readers of BeagleDaily! My name is Lord Beagle. I am honored to write this
guest blog, and acquaint you with Animal Century Kingdom. This is a land of fancy animals,
where live dogs of all breeds – residents of the kingdom.
They wear stylish clothing, and lead joyful lifestyle.
You may ask, where Animal Century is situated? Well, it is not on the other planet.
And it is not imaginary. Our land was founded by artists…

Everything began in 1989, when the artist Maria Pishvanova painted kitten in a boot.
The painting looked incredible! Maria was so happy with the result, so she decided
to paint more artworks, depicting animals and fashion. The artist started
to design beautiful clothing and accessories for characters from paintings.

The first animals in clothes and also residents of
Animal Century were a pretty couple – hedgehog and cat in wedding clothes.
The story behind this painting is very romantic. A friend of Maria fell in love
with the most wonderful girl in the world. He asked the artist to paint something,
that will be a great gift for her. Hedgehog and cat turned out to be magical painting!
Boy and girl married shortly after this artwork was done.

It was the very nice surprise for Maria. She understood that her
art helps people to be happy. Everyone smiled while looking at portraits of animals in clothes.
That is how our land of Happy Art was founded – with creativity and great love.
We, residents of Animal Century, are always ready to make your day!

As time went by, more and more beautiful portraits were being created. Maria’s daughter Julia joined her,
and they continued painting together. Our kingdom grew, you
could already meet many dog breeds, walking on the magical streets.
As you know, each dog belongs to a group, which includes breeds, similar to each other.
That is why Animal Century was divided into counties. Counties for toy dogs, gundogs, shepherds…
I live in the Hound County, together with bloodhounds, harriers, borzois and other great dogs.
I would be happy to welcome beagles at my home!
Feel free to visit me in Scenthound city, when traveling around Animal Century.

Art is very important to all of us.
We love to visit museums, and watch there masterpieces of dog art.
Luckily, there are many galleries and other art spaces in our Kingdom.
For example, the Royal Gallery – there are exhibited paintings with residents of Animal Century.
My portrait hangs in the section of Royal Dogs – together with portraits
of Corgi the Queen and other noble dogs. I am honored to be accompanied by them!

Our artists carry on doing more portraits of dog breeds.
Maria and her daughters – Julia and Anna – reside in Palace of Animal Century,
and invite our residents for portraying. Julia helps with painting,
Anna manages online kingdom at AnimalCentury.com

I would also like to mention other residents from Palace.
Prince Romeo the Chihuahua and the Cat Queen are Ambassadors of Happy Art.
Their mission is to acquaint people and animals with our land.

So, when I wrote this blog, that was my mission, too.
I hope you liked my story, and are interested in visiting the kingdom.
We are working hard on making Animal Century the more exciting and magical place to visit!

Animal Century is the portrait collection of dogs, cats and other animals.

Artists Maria Julia and Anna from Animal Century.com

The artist Maria Pishvanova started it in 1989. Since then, she portrays animals in natural look,
giving them unique image. Over 200 paintings have been done,
and Maria carries on portraying more incredible characters.
With the help of her daughters she creates impressive art collection.
Artist uses all her skills to make outstanding paintings, that depict animals in all their beauty.
