Gizmo the Aggressive Beagle On the Dog Whisperer

After my husband and I got our
first beagle Hunter Warrior,
we thought about getting another
dog. We had both heard how beagles
do well with other beagles. At the
time we both worked and wanted our
beagle to have a friend.

So one day while we were shopping at
Petsmart, one of the workers told us
about a female beagle that needed a
home. She was about a year old. Our
beagle was about the same age. He did
really well with other dogs, we thought
we would take a look at this other beagle.

The owners didn’t want her because she barked
all the time. They had several complaints from
other neighbors about her. It wasn’t until after
we adopted her that we found out certain information
the owners never shared with us. She had been
left outside all the time, unattended. She hadn’t
been socialized and she was aggressive.

Life with her was good for a time. Then we began
to see her aggressive behavior around other dogs
when we walked her. We tried many things to help
her. So when I saw this episode of the Dog Whisperer,
it made me think of our time with this female beagle
who we named Bubbles.

Gizmo the beagle acts alot like Bubbles did. So naturally
I wanted to see what we could have done differently. However
we never had an incident where Bubbles got possessive over
her food.

Gizmo The Aggressive Beagle

Wondering how Gizmo is doing now? Our beagle
Bubbles had issues due to lack of socialization
and probably other factors. Its no fun to live with.
Its hard to walk them or even enjoy a dog that is
aggressive. Fear makes it worse, I lived in fear.

This makes aggressive behavior more
intensified. So being calm is so important
as well as getting professional help.
